AnyTimeDel: Odoo Pizza Delivery System

AnyTimeDel replaced disconnected ordering, kitchen and accounting tools with a single Odoo platform built only for takeaway and delivery. Customers now build their own pizza online or at the counter, add beverages, pay, and track their order, while the kitchen, drivers, stock and GST-compliant books all run from the same system.

Because AnyTimeDel has no dining room, the solution deliberately leaves out table management, floor plans and reservations. Every screen and workflow is tuned for speed from order to hand-over.

Client Background

Client Profile: At a Glance

AnyTimeDel's promise is simple: a pizza made the way the customer wants it, ready fast and delivered hot. Customisation is central, so the menu is built around a base pizza that customers extend with toppings, then complete with drinks.

Operational Bottlenecks

The Operational Challenges

Before Odoo, orders arrived through separate channels that did not talk to each other, so staff re-keyed orders and errors reached the oven.

Fragmented ordering

Online, phone and counter orders lived in different tools, with no single order queue.

Customisation errors

Free-text topping notes were misread, causing remakes and refunds.

No kitchen visibility

Paper tickets made it hard to sequence orders or see which were running late.

Manual delivery dispatch

Drivers were assigned by memory, with no zone rules, delivery fees or status updates for customers.

Stock blind spots

Topping and beverage usage was not tracked against sales, so wastage and stock-outs were common.

Compliance effort

GST reporting and BAS preparation required manual reconciliation across systems.

Scope & Targets

Project Objectives

Eight clear strategic deliverables guiding the end-to-end design and configuration of Odoo for AnyTimeDel.

1
One order queue for every channel: web, phone and counter.
2
A guided pizza builder that turns toppings into structured, priced selections, never free text.
3
Beverages offered as add-ons and in meal combos to lift average order value.
4
A digital kitchen display that sequences preparation by promised time.
5
Zone-based delivery with fees, driver assignment and customer status updates.
6
Real-time stock deduction for dough, sauces, toppings and drinks.
7
Australian compliance out of the box: GST, ABN tax invoices and BAS-ready reports.
8
A lean configuration with no dine-in, table or reservation features.
Architecture & Apps

The Odoo Solution: Unified Platform Architecture

Lean Operations Principle

Deliberately Excluded Restaurant Features

Deliberately excluded: restaurant floor plans, table management, table booking, split-by-seat bills and course management. Removing them shortens every counter screen to order, customise, pay.

Features in Action

Key Functionalities: System Capabilities

Specialised workflows designed for speed, customisation accuracy, and high-volume order throughput.

Pizza Builder with Toppings

Each pizza is one product with configurable attributes, so customers build it step by step and every choice carries its own price.

Step Choice type Example options
Size Pick one Small, Medium, Large, Family
Base Pick one Classic, Thin, Gluten-free
Sauce Pick one Tomato, BBQ, Garlic
Cheese Pick one Mozzarella, Extra cheese, Vegan cheese
Toppings Pick many Pepperoni, Mushroom, Olives, Jalapeño, Chicken, Pineapple
Remove items Pick many No onion, No olives
Topping prices scale with size, and the running total updates live.
Signature pizzas (for example Margherita or Meat Lovers) start pre-filled and remain editable.
Half-and-half pizzas let customers choose different toppings for each half.
Rules prevent invalid combinations and cap the number of toppings.
Each topping maps to a recipe line, so stock is deducted exactly as built.

Beverages and Meal Deals

Integrated upselling mechanisms to drive higher transaction values across all order channels.

Soft drinks, juices and water in can, bottle and 1.25 L sizes.
"Add a drink?" prompt at checkout, plus combo deals such as pizza, garlic bread and drink at a set price.
Age-restricted products are not part of the range.

Takeaway Counter (Point of Sale)

Streamlined order-taking tuned strictly for takeaway and telephone counter operations.

Runs in takeaway mode: no tables, no floor plan, no seat numbers.
Phone orders captured with customer lookup by mobile number and saved addresses.
Optional self-order kiosk for walk-in customers.
Card, tap-to-pay and cash payments, with orders paid before they reach the kitchen.

Kitchen Display System

Replaces paper receipts with real-time digital ticket sequencing and status progression.

Orders from every channel arrive on one screen, sorted by promised pickup or dispatch time.
Stages: To make, In oven, Boxed, Ready. Each stage change notifies the customer or driver.
Toppings print as structured lines, so there is nothing to interpret.

Delivery Dispatch

Automated delivery radius calculations, zoning rules, and real-time customer status messaging.

Delivery zones defined by postcode, each with its own fee, minimum order and time estimate.
Addresses outside zones are offered pickup instead.
Ready orders are batched by zone and assigned to a driver from a dispatch board.
Customers receive SMS or email updates: confirmed, in the oven, out for delivery, delivered.

Loyalty, Inventory and Reporting

Continuous operational visibility and automatic purchasing trigger controls.

Points per dollar spent, promo codes and first-order offers.
Reorder rules raise purchase orders when toppings or drinks fall below minimum.
Dashboards: sales by channel and hour, average order value, top toppings, delivery times, wastage.
Unified Pipeline

Order Flow Architecture

Every order, from any channel, flows through one kitchen queue. Customers get an SMS or email update at each stage.

Order Flow Principle

Unified Preparation With Split Hand-over

Key operational rule: Delivery and pickup orders share every step up to the kitchen and split only at hand-over, so the kitchen never needs to know where an order came from.
